Hello, I’m Joe.
Welcome to Palms Counselling and Personal Development, a counselling and coaching service in Poole, Dorset.
I founded Palms as I wanted to provide a down-to-earth, no-nonsense counselling service for blokes; whatever your background, history and life circumstances happens to be.
What is counselling?
Counselling and psychotherapy are defined by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as:
‘umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing.’
Why counselling?
We all know that when we have a physical injury, it'll probably do us some good to go and see a doctor or physio.
But we often seem to neglect our mental health. And when problems come our way, we might not think to speak to someone about it.
But just like how a physical check-up is good for looking after the body, a mental check-up can be good for the mind.
